Robert Harling's play 'Steel Magnolias' epitomises small town America and has been consistently popular and regularly performed ever since its debut in 1987, particularly following the famous 1989 film adaptation.
Caroline Reader and her talented cast brought a real slice of Louisiana life to Shakespeare House with this Christmas 2006 in-house production, perfectly capturing the characters and accents of the six women who regularly meet up at the local beauty salon to catch up on gossip. All the performances were excellent and the play was both hilarious and heart-wrenching in equal measure.
Special mention must go to Ken Owen who created an interior set for the salon complete with fully functional wash basins so that the ladies could be styled on stage!
